In September of this year Alameda Point experienced a temporary contamination of their drinkable water. 268 homes and 60 businesses were affected by this alert. The City of Alameda and their partner agencies were able to determine a cross-connection between the drinkable water and irrigation systems at Alameda Point, causing non-East Bay Municipal Utilities District Water to get into the drinking water system. They were able to fix the cross-connection issue by shutting down the well that fed the irrigation line. Safe drinking water is one of life's necessities. If a resident or business is concerned about their water- the smell, color, or taste- they should contact their local water municipality.
